Radiology Technologist

Job Summary Takes x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and provides support for the imaging department. This position performs plain films, fluoro, portables, and OR exams and/or plain films and Bone Density (BD registry required). Job Responsibilities Explains procedures to patient to ensure understanding. Provides appropriate educational material. Transports patients to and from clinical areas and verifies patient identity according to policies and procedures. Prepares patient for radiology exam by positioning the patient for the procedure. Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines, preventing unnecessary radiation exposure. Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations. Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted. Ensures prompt submission of high‑quality images and documents to PACS, confirming correct lead markers and patient data. Ensures equipment is properly functioning and reports potential problems or malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Locks or tags out equipment when appropriate. Maintains a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other areas. May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Completion of a Radiology Technology program. ARRT-R Radiography certification (or ARRT-BD Bone Density) within 6 months of hire date. Bone Density Registry required. No experience required. Education Completion of a Radiology Technology program. Experience No experience required. Physical Requirements Constant standing and walking. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more). Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information orally and to distinguish body sounds and alarms. Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs. Frequent lifting and moving patients. Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry. Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs. Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors. Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Rare kneeling and sitting. Required Professional Licenses and Certifications State of Illinois: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA); Radiologic Technologists – Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) or Temporary Accreditation; ARRT-R and/or ARRT-BD. State of Missouri and Oklahoma: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP); ARRT-R and/or ARRT-BD. State of Wisconsin: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP); Radiographer, Licensed – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services; ARRT-R and/or ARRT-BD. Location MO-SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – St. Charles. States: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin. Schedule PRN / Per Diem. Shift (United States of America). Pay Starts at $29 per hour.
