Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ER Holding Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years in ED required License: State RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: - CA RN Licensure - BLS (AHA) - ACLS - PALS - 2 years of experience in ED - Willing to float to medical/surgical/telemetry when not utilized in ED holding Description: This position involves working in emergency department holding. Registered Nurse will float to medical/surgical/telemetry when not being utilized in emergency department holding. The RN must demonstrate an understanding of evidence-based practice. Knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacological implications is required. The RN should be aware of regulatory issues and service line disease processes. Accurate and thorough documentation of assessments is essential. Clinical procedures such as IVs, Foley catheter insertion, and dressing changes are performed by the RN. Effective patient and family education must be provided. The RN must meet standards in the proper use of telemonitoring, IV, ventilators, and safe medication administration. Recognizing changes in patient condition is critical. The RN acts as a patient advocate and works both independently and as part of a team. Acceptance of constructive feedback is necessary. A professional appearance must be maintained at all times. Tasks must be completed within required timeframes. The RN should take initiative and conduct necessary follow-up. The role involves a weekend rotation with no on-call requirement. Daily census and patient-volume management experience is needed. Interaction with interdisciplinary teams, including respiratory services and pharmacy, is expected.
