Job Description

This multi-craft Maintenance Technician role focuses on keeping complex corrugated box manufacturing equipment and facility systems operating safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components, perform preventive maintenance on production machinery and facility systems, and help ensure minimal downtime and consistent product quality in a clean, climate-controlled industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot production equipment in the facility to quickly identify and resolve issues, ensuring machines are up, running, and performing properly.
• Work on large corrugated box machines that include hydraulic components, sensors, conveyors, and flexo folder gluer systems that load, glue, and assemble paper into finished products.
• Perform detailed mechanical troubleshooting on complex machine components, including conveyors, drives, and moving assemblies.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting on industrial equipment, including identifying faults in wiring, components, and controls using schematics and a voltmeter.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and related technical documentation to diagnose and repair equipment issues.
• Conduct regular preventive maintenance (PMs) on production machinery according to the established PM schedule to reduce unplanned downtime.
• Follow and maintain a structured PM schedule, documenting work performed and reporting any recurring issues or needed improvements.
• Support facilities maintenance by performing PMs and repairs on building systems such as HVAC units, dock doors, and other facility-related equipment.
• Use proper tools and test equipment, including voltmeters, to verify electrical conditions and ensure safe operation of three-phase motors and other electrical components.
• Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to prioritize work, minimize equipment downtime, and support continuous improvement.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and best practices while working on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure that tools, parts, and equipment are stored and used properly.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to diagnose issues on industrial equipment and three-phase motor systems.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills for complex machinery with multiple moving and interconnected components.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
• Ability to use a volt meter safely and accurately for troubleshooting and verification of electrical conditions.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulics and hydraulic components on industrial machinery.
• Hands-on experience with pneumatics and pneumatic components on industrial machinery.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
• Familiarity with three-phase motors, including basic operation and troubleshooting.
• Basic familiarity with PLCs and control systems sufficient to assist in troubleshooting.
• Experience with industrial maintenance, including repair and upkeep of production and facility equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while following a structured maintenance schedule.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety when working with electrical and mechanical systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in corrugated box or similar packaging manufacturing environments is beneficial.
• Experience working with flexo folder gluers, conveyors, and other packaging machinery is a plus.
• Comfort working with schematic diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Experience supporting facilities maintenance, including HVAC systems and dock doors.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot under time pressure.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with production and other maintenance personnel.
• Willingness to work rotating night shifts, including a combination of 6-hour and 12-hour shifts.

Work Environment

This position is based in a clean, climate-controlled industrial facility that processes a high volume of cardboard and operates large corrugated box machines. The work involves frequent interaction with complex production equipment, including conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and flexo folder gluer machinery. The schedule follows a rotating night shift pattern with 6-hour shifts on Monday and Tuesday and 12-hour shifts on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, typically from 6:00 p.m. to midnight for 6-hour shifts and 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for 12-hour shifts. You will use standard maintenance tools and test equipment, including voltmeters and other diagnostic devices, while working on three-phase motors and industrial electrical systems. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and organization, with a requirement to wear jeans and steel-toe footwear while on the production floor.
