This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, and performance of campus building systems and infrastructure to support a safe, efficient, and reliable environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Senior Chief Engineer will lead a team of engineering and maintenance professionals, manage critical building systems, support capital projects, and partner closely with university leadership to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.What this job involves:Direct and oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems across campus facilitiesDevelop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiencySupervise, mentor, and support a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff while promoting a culture of safety and accountabilityManage energy management initiatives and identify opportunities for sustainability improvements and cost savingsCoordinate and oversee renovation, construction, and capital improvement projects to ensure quality execution and timely completionPrepare and manage operating and capital budgets, maintenance schedules, and operational reportsServe as the primary liaison between JLL and university stakeholders, responding to facility concerns and supporting emergency response activities as neededRequired Qualifications:Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in facilities management, engineering, or building operationsAt least 5 years of supervisory or management experience leading engineering or maintenance teamsValid Chief Engineer license or equivalent stationary engineer certification required, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframeStrong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systemsExperience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, building codes, and environmental compliance requirementsStrong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical fieldExperience supporting higher education, government, healthcare, or large institutional facilities environmentsProfessional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Plant Engineer (CPE), or similar credentialsKnowledge of energy management principles and sustainability best practicesExperience managing multi-building campuses or complex facility portfoliosAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environmentCustomer service mindset with strong relationship management skillsLocation: Nashville, TennesseeWork Shift: Monday through Friday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PMThis position does not provide visa sponsorship.
