JOB SUMMARY:

The Process Engineer Technician position is responsible for supporting the manufacturing and operational workflows, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness by analyzing design, and implementing improvements to production processes, focusing on safety, scalability, and compliance with industry standards. This position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assess and improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
• Develop and implement process optimization strategies using tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, and 5s
• Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis to address inefficiencies and defects.
• Drive initiative such as 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to foster a culture of operational excellence.
• Work Instructions & Standard Operating Procedures
• Draft, format, and maintain clear, accurate Work Instructions (WIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing and assembly operations.
• Collaborate with operators, engineers, and supervisors to capture current best practices and ensure documentation reflects actual floor processes.
• Review and revise existing SOPs and WIs on a scheduled basis or following process changes, equipment updates, or corrective actions.
• Process Improvement & Workflow Efficiency
• Observe and analyze current manufacturing workflows to identify waste, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies using Lean and 5S methodologies.
• Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements that reduce cycle time, minimize defects, and improve overall throughput.
• Participate in time studies and line balancing activities to support production planning and efficiency goals.
• Collect and track operational metrics (scrap rates, cycle times) and report findings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience: Entry Level to 2 years

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Process/Industrial Engineering or other Engineering field

Related Experience:


• Effective communication skills both written and verbal

• Self-motivated and works well with or without supervision.


• Good organizational skills and a methodical approach to work.


• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.


• Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate testing instruments, tools, computers and various pieces of office equipment.


• Detailed oriented, able to read and interpret drawings, BOMs, options, shop details, etc.


• Must have a good attendance record and have a strong sense of personal responsibility.


• Personal computer skills required.


• Ability to work safely.

• Experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).

• Experience developing, implementing, and sustaining new or improved manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, throughput, and cost performance.

• Experience in developing and maintaining work instructions and standard operating procedures

• Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset

• Basic data collection and analysis (Excel, charts, tables)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.

Compensation: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
