Senior Accountant Location: Houston, TX (77079) Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Oil & Gas / Energy / Construction / Industrial Services About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting and finance team supporting operations within the oil & gas, energy, construction, or industrial services industries. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong accounting professional who is ready to take ownership of complex accounting activities, contribute to the month-end close, and serve as a key partner to both accounting and operational teams. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and variance analysis, preferably within an operational, project-based, or field-services environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments Perform and review complex account and bank reconciliations Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and supporting schedules Prepare financial statements, management reports, and other internal reporting Analyze monthly financial results, identify variances, and investigate unusual activity Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes Assist with project, job cost, revenue, or cost accounting activities Partner with operations and business leaders to understand financial performance Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and cash activity as needed Ensure transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified Support internal and external audits and provide requested schedules and documentation Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of accounting policies Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy Mentor and provide guidance to Staff Accountants and other accounting team members Assist with special projects, system implementations, and other finance initiatives Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required 4–8+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience in oil & gas, energy, construction, engineering, industrial services, or a related industry strongly preferred Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles Demonstrated experience owning or significantly contributing to month-end close Strong general ledger, reconciliation, journal entry, and financial reporting experience Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis Experience with an ERP/accounting system such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Intacct, or similar Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Industry Experience Oil & Gas Energy Services Midstream / Downstream Oilfield Services Engineering & Construction Commercial Construction Industrial Services Manufacturing Infrastructure EPC / EPCM Field Services What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is more than just a number cruncher – someone who understands the story behind the numbers and can confidently communicate it to others.
