Part-Time Faculty Communication Studies Instructor

Job Overview Montgomery College accepts applications continuously for part‑time Adjunct Faculty in Communication Studies across its campuses. Duties and Responsibilities Teach assigned courses in the Communication Studies program, focusing on Introduction to Human Communication. Teach a varied schedule of courses that may include morning, afternoon, accelerated, online, and off‑campus classes at Montgomery County high schools as needed. Stay abreast of discipline‑sponsored events, curriculum changes, and other developments to keep students informed and engaged. Engage students through active and collaborative learning approaches. Incorporate culturally relevant pedagogies into instruction. Use the educational enterprise platform (e.g., Blackboard) and other relevant technology, including inexpensive or no‑cost resources, in developing and delivering instruction. Teaching Limits During the academic year, a part‑time faculty member may teach no more than 11.5 equivalent semester hours (ESH) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year. During summer sessions, no more than 10 ESH for both sessions combined. Required Qualifications Master’s degree or higher in Human Communication or Communication Studies, with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline or a related field. Experience teaching in‑person Introduction to Human Communication, Public Relations, Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Small Group Communication, and related courses. Experience teaching distance learning or hybrid courses. Ability to integrate technology and classroom software such as Blackboard into course delivery. Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in educational settings. Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor. Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (or US equivalency for international degrees). Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching Communication Studies in a post‑secondary setting. Experience working in the field of communications.
