Automotive Tooling Engineer

Essential Functions:Design, develop, and support new and existing automotive glass tooling products and processes (to include, but not limited to: artwork, shaping, tempering, lamination, and inspection).Identify develop, and support OE Engineering group processes as required (to include, but not limited to: product and tooling design, simulation, surfacing, CMM, laser scanning, flat shape development, artwork, data management, and vendor/supplier development).Facilitate the design, development, and validation of simultaneous projects; ensuring projects meet delivery schedules and are within established budget.Act as engineering interface with plant process owners.Act as engineering interface with tooling vendors/suppliers.Support engineering activities with internal and external customers as required.Research and develop new and existing materials for both new and existing products and processes to mitigate risks associated with introducing new products and procedures into the production environment.Assist plants with initial tooling trials and first part development on NMI programs as required.Assist plants with tooling related maintenance and engineering change requests as required.Assist in the population and maintenance of tooling standardizations and tool activity databases.Maintains good verbal and written communications with project teams and manufacturing plants.Works within a team environment, to identify and resolve key process issues.Interface with OE Engineering team on part design, tool design, and process design, including working with the Advanced Assembly team to ensure glass products are consistent and work properly with the assembly processes.Maintain good verbal and written communications with program and plant teams.Works within a team environment, to identify and resolve key process issues as they arise.Work in compliance with all safety rules and regulations.Ability to travel 10-15% of time.Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and PrinciplesOther duties as assigned by managerTop 3 Competencies Needed for Success in the Role: Safety & Quality Focus: Demonstrates a visible commitment to safety, quality, and ethical behavior.Customer Focused: Collaborates with customers to develop initiatives that are focused on mutual business success.
