Steel Erection Sales Estimator
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Steel Erection Sales Estimator to join our team in our Porter office. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in steel erection, steel estimating, and steel sales. This role requires a highly organized professional who can develop customer relationships, prepare accurate project estimates, and coordinate steel erection opportunities from bid stage through project award.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for structural and miscellaneous steel erection projects
- Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents
- Perform quantity take-offs and labor/material cost analysis
- Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, fabricators, and customers
- Generate new business opportunities and assist with sales growth
- Prepare and submit bid proposals within deadlines
- Coordinate with project managers, field crews, and vendors during preconstruction
- Attend job walks, pre-bid meetings, and customer meetings as needed
- Negotiate pricing and contract terms with clients and subcontractors
- Track bid opportunities and maintain estimating records
- Provide technical knowledge related to steel erection methods and project execution
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in:
- Steel Erection
- Steel Estimating
- Steel Sales
- Strong understanding of structural steel drawings and specifications
- Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to read blueprints and perform material/labor take-offs
- Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and erection practices
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with commercial and industrial steel projects
- Knowledge of fabrication and erection sequencing
- Existing industry relationships in the steel construction market
