Underwriting Manager

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Underwriting Manager to lead our mortgage underwriting team at Right Start Mortgage. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing and optimizing the underwriting process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a seamless workflow from application to approval.Responsibilities:Team Leadership:Lead and inspire a team of underwriters, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and collaboration.Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that aligns with company values.Operational Oversight:Manage and supervise daily mortgage underwriting operations, ensuring adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement streamlined procedures.Quality Assurance:Implement and oversee quality control measures to ensure accuracy and consistency in underwriting decisions.Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.Risk Management:Evaluate and mitigate potential risks associated with mortgage loan applications.Provide guidance on complex or exceptional cases, ensuring consistent and well-documented underwriting decisions.Communication and Coordination:Serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, including loan officers, processors, and senior management, to address inquiries and provide guidance.Collaborate with other departments to optimize cross-functional processes.Training and Development:Provide training and ongoing development opportunities for underwriting team members.Ensure team members stay informed about changes in industry regulations and company policies.Reporting and Analysis:Analyze operational performance metrics, underwriting trends, and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.Generate regular reports for senior management to inform decision-making.Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (MBA is a plus).Proven experience in mortgage underwriting management.Strong leadership and team management skills.In-depth knowledge of mortgage products, regulations, and industry best practices.Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.Effective communication and interpersonal skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
