Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have: 36 months RN experience, with at least one year in an ICU. One previous successful travel nursing assignment preferably in a facility that used Meditech. Ability to care for 1-3 ICU patients and comfort in managing patients on ventilators. Proficient in reading telemetry strips. Prior CVICU experience.

Description: Traveler shall be scheduled in accordance with facility policy. The expectation is to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees. The unit consists of 28 mixed ICU beds with patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3. Staffing includes RNs, and each care team member has access to mobile phones. Mobile computer workstations are available on wheels for documentation through Meditech. Scheduling requirements include three 12-hour shifts per week, which incorporate every other weekend. Travelers may float to the emergency department or PCU to manage PCU or ICU holds. Bedside shift report is utilized for patient handoff upon transfer of care. Advanced skills needed include CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy. Nurses administer respiratory treatments outside of the ICU, including inhalers and nebulizers. Procedures performed on the unit include post-op day 0 CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics. Experience with neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and with EVDs, bolts, and Arctic Sun is preferred. Additional training opportunities are available for skilled neuro ICU or cardiovascular ICU nurses. Willingness to train for managing patients with head and neck flap procedures is encouraged.
