Registered Nurse - Rehabilitation

Job Details

Unit: ACUTE REHAB- # Beds: 15- Nurse/Patient Ratios: 1-4:6 depending on census ( typically 2 nurses scheduled unless census is above 12)- Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?): BLS NIHSS- will go through QM training on site - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Strokes, hip fracture, brain injury, ortho fracture, back surgery, DM, resp failure. Most common are neuro/ ortho, wound vacs, dressing changes. - Experience or 'Must have' skills: One year of experience. Must have medical or Rehab experience. - Are RN's required to titrate drips: No- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Fluids, blood, antibiotics- Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Do RN's read strips?:\tNone - Are RN's required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab?:\tIf used in the charge role you would do a quick huddle in the morning. - Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?:\tCharge nurse for both shifts. They take a full load of patients. - Are there Nurse Aides on this unit/Ratios: CNAs 1:10, Rehab tech - PT/OT/SLP/Pulmonary or Cardiac Rehab?: PT/ OT/ SLP all used on the unit - RT/Equipment (ie Cpap, Bipap, High Flow): Bipap, cpap, HFNC, Nurses do breathing treatments- Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 3-12 hour shifts. Self scheduling. They will try to accommodate block scheduling. - Weekend Requirements: 4 weekend shifts in a 4 week period. - Holiday Requirements: Will be expected to cover holidays if needed- Call or Standby Requirement: On call- for low census or extra shift and are not needed. - Floating Requirements: On rotation for floating- would float to inpatient Medical oncology/telemetry/ Surgical ortho- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue with logo - Unit/Department Specific Orientation:\t2-12 hour shifts-- Will follow a therapist to check off on transfers- Additional Notes: Required to do education that is required for all staff while on assignment. They are in a separate building- emergencies have to call 911. Small café- small variety of foods available.
