Respiratory Therapist
This is a 13-week contract position.
Night shift, working 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30.
The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care including intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures to patients, and providing education upon discharge.
Conducts physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory and oxygen devices.
Performs chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
Monitors oximetry and capnography according to policy.
Reviews patient's chest x-rays and assists with respiratory care procedures.
Performs tracheostomy care, including emergency insertions and removals.
Conducts arterial punctures and evaluates ventilation efficiency.
Records treatment information and communicates with healthcare team regarding therapy effectiveness.
Maintains respiratory therapy charging and ensures accurate data entry.
Performs CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
Active Respiratory Therapist license required. Relevant experience preferred, especially with critical care patients.
