University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center is part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University, one of 50 Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country. The Nursing Assistant II (NA II) is an entry-level position specifically designed for current nursing students aiming to enrich their preparation for a nursing career. Under the guidance of an experienced nurse, you will acquire valuable hands-on experience by providing safe, efficient, age-specific care to patients and families in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status. The role is designed to build upon the experience gained in the classroom and during clinical rotations. Responsibilities include:

• Direct patient care delivery (includes ADLs, hygiene measures, select treatments, patient/family education, discharge preparation)
• Communication and documentation of interventions and observations
• Participation in quality improvement process
• Involved in learning and self-improvement
• Initiates and maintains a positive relationship with patients/customers and coworkers

Current NA II opportunities exist across UH Seidman Cancer Center including:

• Ambulatory Outpatient Float Pool
• Stem Cell Transplant & Malignant Hematology (SCC 3) Infusion
• Acute Oncology Unit (SCC 4)
• Surgical Oncology (SCC 5)
• Surgical Oncology/MICU Stepdown (SCC 6)

Qualifications:

• Experience/Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice. Successful completion of a Nursing Fundamentals course required.
• Special Skills, Equipment: Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (i.e. stethoscope, thermometers, glucometers, and electronic monitoring devices). Excellent communication skills.
• Education: Current enrollment in an accredited A.D.N. nursing program required. Current enrollment in a BSN nursing program preferred. In addition to completing the online application form, candidates should upload their unofficial transcripts showing current enrollment in a nursing program. If you do not have an unofficial transcript readily available, you may request one from your academic institution's student portal or registrar's office.
