General Production Worker

This role supports the manufacturing process by converting raw materials on the production line into finished, packaged goods. You will work on a fast-paced production and packaging line, ensuring products meet quality, safety, and labeling standards while accurately recording production results and maintaining a clean, compliant environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times to maintain a safe and compliant production environment.
• Adhere to the daily production schedule and complete assigned tasks within required timeframes.
• Remove, stage, and restore production supplies as needed to support continuous production flow.
• Enter production results accurately into the designated computer system or reporting tools.
• Inspect packaging for proper product fills, correct weights, and accurate labeling to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
• Identify, remove, and properly dispose of damaged or leaking packaging from the production line.
• Properly stack finished cases on pallets in a safe and organized manner for storage or shipment.
• Monitor the production line to ensure product runs safely and efficiently down the line to the palletizer.
• Follow established quality check guidelines and document results as required.
• Perform general production, packing, loading, unloading, and machine operation tasks as assigned.
• Assist with inspection, packaging, and general labor duties to support overall production needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the production and packaging operations.

Essential Skills

• Basic math skills to perform counts, weights, and simple calculations.
• Basic computer skills to enter production results into systems and follow electronic instructions.
• Ability to stand for 910 hours per shift on the production floor.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform push and pull tasks as required by production activities.
• Willingness to work overtime, including occasional weekends, when necessary to meet production demands.
• Experience working on production or packaging lines in a GMP environment.
• Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety procedures consistently.
• Capability to perform general labor, packing, loading, unloading, and stacking pallets.
• Comfort with machine operation and machine monitoring on a production line.
• Strong attention to detail for inspection of packaging, fills, weights, and labels.

• Previous experience in a food production or full GMP foods environment.
• Experience with general production, machine operation, and packing tasks.
• Familiarity with inspection processes for packaging and labeling.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented production setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a full GMP foods environment, where strict hygiene and safety standards apply. You will work on a production and packaging line that involves general labor, machine operation, packing, inspection, loading, unloading, and stacking pallets. The position requires standing for 910 hours per shift and handling up to 50 lbs, including pushing and pulling tasks. The environment is fast-paced and team-oriented, with a focus on consistent adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices and safety procedures. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on production needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
