Diesel Mechanic

Position Description Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Tampa, Florida. Pay & Schedule $27.50 per hour Certification bonus up to $700 for each new ASE certification Quarterly bonus up to $500 Schedule: Monday – Friday, Second Shift 3 PM – 11 30 PM Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech Competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year U.S. military veterans – extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, technology, etc. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or other technical certifications preferred Basic tools required Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience preferred Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (drug and alcohol verification from last 3 years) Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance and repairs Perform preventive maintenance and component inspections Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers as applicable Identify root causes of failures and perform required repairs Replace defective components as instructed Maintain facility equipment and perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints and provide solutions Use shop management system and electronic documentation Comply with all federal, provincial, and corporate safety, DOT, MOT, and other compliance guidelines Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support Ryder is proud to be an equal‑opportunity employer and a drug‑free workplace.
