Position Overview
The Foreman is responsible for the direct leadership and execution of field operations on assigned demolition projects. This position serves as the primary on-site supervisor, coordinating daily work activities, supervising personnel, maintaining safety compliance, and ensuring work is performed efficiently and in accordance with project requirements and company standards.
The Foreman typically manages their own assigned project independently while coordinating with project management and supervision. On larger or more complex projects, the Foreman may work under the direction of a Senior Foreman.

Decision-Making Authority
This role carries significant field authority and is responsible for making critical decisions to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project execution. Sound judgment, situational awareness, and the ability to act decisively in dynamic and high-risk environments are core expectations of this position.
Field Operations
· Direct daily crew assignments and work sequencing within assigned project scope
· Adjust work methods based on actual site conditions while staying within approved plans
· Stop work immediately when unsafe conditions or structural concerns are identified
· Identification when shoring/bracing is needed
Safety & Compliance
· Enforce all safety policies and company procedures without exception
· Issue immediate stop-work orders when safety is at risk — this authority is unconditional
· Correct unsafe behaviors directly and escalate when necessary
· Prepare and implement daily JHA
Schedule & Production
· Adjust daily work plans to keep the project on schedule
· Communicate delays or production issues to the Superintendent promptly
· Recommend recovery strategies when schedule impacts occur
· Prepare 2 week look ahead of job tasks and manpower for review with Super/General Super
Risk Management & Escalation
· Identify and address field-level risks within scope of authority
· Escalate structural concerns, unknown conditions, or out-of-scope issues to supervision immediately
· Never proceed with work that presents unclear structural or safety risk — escalate first
Core Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Operational Execution
· Lead daily field operations and all assigned project activities
· Supervise demolition crews, operators, and subcontractors
· Assign manpower and coordinate daily work tasks
· Maintain control of work areas and site organization
· Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and to specification
· Monitor production, schedule adherence, and work quality
· Ensure utility disconnects are completed prior to removals
Structural & Interior Operations
· Execute structural building removal activities as required
· Lead interior demolition and strip-out operations
· Coordinate removal of walls, ceilings, flooring, equipment, and finishes
· Assist with slab openings, concrete cutting, and structural modifications
· Implement controlled demolition techniques to protect surrounding structures
· Coordinate work in occupied or active environments
Note: Structural demolition experience is preferred but not required. Foremen without structural experience will be provided mentorship and a clear development path toward building this skill set.
Safety Leadership & Regulatory Compliance
· Enforce OSHA standards and all company safety policies
· Ensure the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) is in place, reviewed, and followed on all assigned projects
· Ensure compliance with fall protection, lead standards, silica control, equipment operation, scaffold safety, aerial lifts, excavation and trenching, and OSHA Focus Four hazards
· Conduct and participate in daily detailed safety meetings
· Identify and correct hazards — establish regulated and restricted work areas
· Ensure proper PPE usage at all times
· Support incident reporting and documentation
Work Planning & Coordination
· Review project drawings and specifications
· Implement safe and efficient work sequences
· Coordinate daily work with project management and other trades
· Schedule manpower, equipment, and subcontractor activities
· Identify and communicate project challenges or risks promptly
Workforce Supervision
· Supervise and direct assigned crews
· Provide clear, detailed direction and performance expectations
· Monitor productivity and quality of work
· Assist with training and development of crew members
· Maintain discipline and accountability on the project
· Enforce company rules and compliance standards with confidence — leaders are expected to address issues directly and without hesitation
Equipment & Subcontractor Coordination
· Coordinate use of demolition equipment and tools
· Perform or oversee daily equipment checks
· Ensure safe operation of equipment — report issues and coordinate repairs
· Coordinate work with abatement subcontractors and specialty contractors on site
· Ensure subcontractor compliance with project and safety requirements
Material Control, Accountability & Ethical Responsibility
· Assist in tracking scrap materials including ferrous and non-ferrous metals
· Maintain control of all materials within assigned project
· Prevent unauthorized removal of materials or building property from the site
· Ensure proper handling and disposal of materials per company policy
· Report concerns related to theft or misuse immediately
· The Foreman is responsible for protecting company and client assets and must demonstrate integrity and accountability at all times
Documentation, Reporting & Technology
· Complete detailed daily reports and track production
· Maintain logs and safety documentation
· Document site conditions and work progress
· Utilize digital tools and company reporting systems
· Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all recordkeeping
Qualifications & Requirements
· 5–15+ years of construction or demolition experience
· Previous leadership or crew supervision experience preferred
· Interior demolition experience required
· Structural demolition experience preferred
· Basic ability to read and interpret construction drawings
· Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and safe work practices
· OSHA 30 certification required — National Certified Demolition Supervisor (CDS) certification required (company-paid 12-month runway for current Foremen who do not yet hold CDS)
· Fall Protection Competent Person training required
· Scaffold Competent Person training required
· Current First Aid & CPR card required
· Ongoing training and certifications are an expectation at all levels — maintaining current certifications and pursuing professional development is considered a core part of this role
· Valid driver's license required
· Ability to work flexible schedules including nights and weekends
