Wastewater Plant Operations Manager - Laboratory

Position contingent upon contract award.
Position Summary
The Wastewater Plant Operations Manager will oversee wastewater treatment operations supporting laboratory effluent processing and oxidizer-rich wastewater systems within a highly specialized medical research laboratory environment operating at BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 containment levels.
The Wastewater Plant Operations Manager will supervise wastewater treatment operations and maintenance personnel, support environmental compliance activities, oversee operational performance of wastewater treatment systems, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, environmental, and site-specific operational requirements associated with regulated biological research environments.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years experience supporting or treating oxidizer-rich industrial wastewater or laboratory effluent systems.
• Minimum 2 years experience supporting biological laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or other regulated research environments.
• Experience supervising wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance activities
• Experience supporting environmental compliance requirements
• Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting wastewater treatment system operations
• Strong understanding of wastewater treatment operational processes and safety procedures
• Ability to support emergency response and operational continuity activities

• High-containment laboratory environments
• Industrial wastewater treatment systems
• EPA and environmental regulatory compliance
• SCADA/BAS integration and monitoring systems
• Mission-critical facility operations
• DoD, healthcare, or research facility environments
• Hazardous or regulated waste stream management

Additional Requirements
• Must be able to obtain and maintain access to Fort Detrick and associated federal research facilities
• Ability to work within regulated BSL-2/3/4 laboratory environments
• Ability to pass background screening and site access requirements
• U.S. citizenship may be required depending on facility access and security requirements
