Role Description

Under the direct supervision of the General Superintendent the Assistant Superintendent is responsible for working with the lead Superintendent to manage all aspects of the project from the field.

General Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting the Superintendent in the day-to-day supervision and coordination of subcontractors and craft personnel.

• Ensure the safety and well-being of employees at project sites. Has the ability to stop work if there is an observed unsafe condition.

• Provide assistance to the Superintendent to ensure that project schedules are met.

• Provide aid to job site quality control checks to ensure the best possible product in accordance with the Quality Control Plan.

• Completion of (3) three-week look ahead schedules weekly.

• Maintain clear communications with Superintendent to ensure proper understanding of the project job site operations and subcontractors/suppliers for the project.

• Participate with the Superintendent to prepare agenda and hold job progress meetings with subcontractors to coordinate project progress with minutes distributed to all parties.

• Photograph jobsite daily to highlight progress, quality, safety, and conditions utilizing the project management software (Procore).

• Preparation and submittal of accurate, detailed written daily reports for the project in the project management software (Procore).

• Ensure compliance with Jewett's Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) and all local requirements (OSHA).

• Responsible for notifying supervisor if a safety infraction is observed.

• Control all job site operations for compliance with contract requirements, noise and dust control, non-interruption of Owner activities and utility shutdown procedures

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, team based working environment.

• Assist with scheduling all project activities in compliance with project schedule timelines.

• Assist with maintenance of punch list management and project closeout requirements.

• Participate in onsite meetings, including subcontractor, coordination, and owner meetings.

• Oversight and management of trades onsite.

• Labor and carpentry work to consist of, but not limited to, building safety rails, temporary protection, floor hole protection, other miscellaneous carpentry needs.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering is a plus, but is not required

• A minimum of 2-3 years related experience in the construction industry with a commercial and/or industrial general contractor

• Ability to supervise and manage craftspeople and multiple subcontractors on multiple construction and repair projects

• OSHA 30 Safety Course Certification, Red Cross First Aid, and CPR Certification is preferred but not required.

• Understanding of project management software, Procore a plus

• Proficient with MS Word and Excel

• Ability to read/write and communicate in English

Work Environment

This job operates on an industrial worksite or outdoor area and uses mechanical equipment as needed to perform duties with associated noise levels. Weather conditions may vary. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work & Travel

This is a full-time position and may frequently require long hours and weekend work. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or field plus a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in the construction industry with a commercial or industrial general contractor.
2. Thorough understanding of construction means and methods.
3. Ability to utilize computer operations and advanced features of software packages (word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, AutoCad, Procore, Sage Timberline, Bluebeam, and scheduling software).
4. Ability to read/write and communicate in English.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to function well in very busy situations.
