Machinist

We are currently seeking a manual Machinist. This position is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts for the Mechanical Lab. Responsibilities Set up and operate metal lathe to perform repairs by "bore and bush of end bells", which is the machining of end bells for servo motors. Set up and operate surface grinder and metal saw in the process of machining parts, as needed. Use measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers, indicators, calipers, etc.) in the machining of parts, as needed. Maintain operator safety for all of the machines (e.g. lathe, surface grinder, saw, etc.). Keep work area clean and orderly at all times. Handle special projects as assigned.
