Environmental Laboratory Analyst

Position Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) is currently accepting applications for an Environmental Laboratory Analyst position. The position is an experienced working level in the series, working under general supervision to carry out a variety of routine laboratory tests following standardized procedures and within prescribed times. Minimum Qualifications One year of progressively responsible laboratory experience performing tests in chemical, bacteriological, or public health. Twenty-four (24) semester hours in college or university laboratory courses such as chemistry, physics, biology, or bacteriology. (Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge and ability is qualifying.) Key Responsibilities Perform analytical work in chemical, bacteriological, or public health according to specified procedures. Assist in carrying out special assignments according to general instructions. Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, stains, and media for laboratory and research tests. Prepare reports of field or laboratory work, calculate results, and record data. Input and validate data and check results via computers and automated systems for accuracy and precision. Verify data for historical trends, outliers, and exceptions. Assemble, operate, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment used in analytical and research work. Collect, preserve, and transport chemical, bacteriological, or public health samples from diverse locations in accordance with established protocols. Operate automatic sampling equipment and maintain it. Work in a regulated or certified laboratory environment. Additional Qualifications Valid California Driver License (Class C) prior to appointment; license is essential for driving functions. Basic proficiency with laboratory software such as Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Microsoft Excel, and Word.
