Lincoln Elementary School is seeking a Behavior Support Assistant. Anticipated Start Date: To Be Determined SALARY For the 2026-2027 school year, the starting pay rate is $27.82 per hour. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Behavior Support Assistant (BSA), under the general supervision of building administrators and the day-to-day guidance of educators and the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) team, provides direct student intervention services. This role extends support to assigned students both within the school environment and through community experiences and partnerships. Additionally, the BSA ensures that every child has a meaningful relationship with an adult who serves as their advocate, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

QUALIFICATION PROFILE

CERTIFICATION / LICENSE

• Certification in the district-designated crisis prevention program (training provided by the district)
• Valid driver's license

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of relevant work experience required
• Associate's degree or equivalent (60 college credits) preferred
• Bachelor's degree strongly preferred

EXPERIENCE

• Prior experience working with youth in an educational, behavioral, or community-based setting preferred, particularly in providing direct support and intervention services
• Bilingual proficiency preferred
• Experience supporting students with social-emotional or behavioral needs highly desirable
• Familiarity with implementing intervention strategies and working collaboratively with educators and support teams a plus

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

• Ability to assist in the assessment of students who exhibit discomfort, aggression, withdrawal, or other non-adaptive behaviors in school or school sponsored activities
• Ability to assist students in the development of self-management and problem-solving strategies in the following areas: Interpersonal/peer relationships o Within classroom settings o Within non-classroom settings o Development of social skills o Peer mediation o Designing and implementing Tier II and Tier III behavior interventions o
• Ability to work effectively with MTSS team to enhance student communication, engagement and academic achievement
• Ability to provide positive reinforcement with a variety of skills and across settings
• Ability to process pro-social choices and increase social judgment with students across settings
• Ability to maintain intervention and assistance data and records for student in contact with Behavior Support Assistance services
• Ability to maintain knowledge and community resources for mental health referrals
• Strong interpersonal skills and human relation skills
• Ability to simultaneously process personal feeling states while dealing in a professional, calm manner with the needs and behaviors of students and staff
• Ability to implement nonviolent crisis intervention strategies successfully
• Ability to implement behavioral techniques that are ethnically and culturally responsive
• Ability to implement strategies that are developmentally appropriate
• Must be able to be understood in face-to-face communications and speak with a level of proficiency
• Must be able to use technology, walk, use hands and stand for prolonged periods
• Must be able to push, pull or lift at least 15 pounds

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists students with behavior supports within the building
• Participates in MTSS team meetings that involve student behavior issues
• Monitors and tracks students involved with Behavior Assistance services
• Assists in Tier II and Tier III behavioral prevention/intervention strategy development and implementation for students
• Assists in the monitoring of school performance of targeted struggling students in the areas of academic achievement, attendance, and behavior both in school and school related community experiences
• Provides students with assistance in building and maintaining appropriate relationships with teachers, peers, community partners, potential employers and all other individuals associated with the school/program
• Supports and responds to immediate behavioral needs with appropriate nonviolent crisis intervention strategies

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Performs other related tasks assigned by the building administrator(s) or designee

EQUIPMENT

Uses computers, network systems, provided district technology and job-related equipment as required

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel to schools as needed
