Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a MA RN license, Epic proficiency, and a minimum of 18 months of ER experience.

Details

• General Emergency Department serving a combined adult and pediatric population
• Community hospital setting
• Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (4x12-hour shifts)
• Every other weekend required
• Contract length is flexible at either 13 or 26 weeks
• Weekly hours are flexible at either 36 or 48 HPW
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skills required include triage, IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care, arterial line management, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, ABG interpretation, procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, IV paralytics, IV sedation, emergency medications, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG, CVA management, multisystem organ dysfunction management, psychiatric holds, managing violent behavior, and splint application

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 18 months of ER experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two professional references required, at least one must be from a Nurse Manager or higher
• Must be able to work any day of the week with no special scheduling accommodations

Additional Information

• A pass/fail telemetry test and a pass/fail medication exam are required at orientation; the passing score for the tele test is 80% with only one attempt allowed — failure results in assignment cancellation
• A pass/fail EKG test is also required
• Pre-start online modules must be completed prior to the start date (approximately 1–2 hours)
• Holiday coverage is expected; travelers may request one of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) as RTO with the understanding they may be required to work the other two
• Up to 14 days of RTO may be requested; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
• This is a union facility — no special scheduling accommodations can be made for any reason
• Local candidates are accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
• Candidates who have previously worked within this health system must have a 12-month separation period before being eligible
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license will not be considered
