K2 is seeking an experienced Ultrasound Technician to support our clinic out of The Villages, FL in a 1099 Contractor capacity . The Ultrasound Technician supports and plays a critical role in the diagnostic process by performing high-quality ultrasound imaging to assist physicians in evaluating and diagnosing medical conditions. This position requires expertise in operating ultrasound equipment and interpreting preliminary images to ensure accuracy and clarity. The technician collaborates closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and precise imaging results. Additionally, the role involves maintaining patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging procedure, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and safety standards. Ultimately, the Ultrasound Technician contributes significantly to patient care by delivering essential diagnostic information that supports effective treatment planning. Minimum Qualifications Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography or ultrasound technology program. Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent credential. Valid state licensure or certification as required by the state of employment. Demonstrated experience in performing diagnostic ultrasound imaging in a clinical setting. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to ultrasound imaging. Preferred Qualifications Additional certifications in specialized ultrasound areas such as vascular, obstetric, or cardiac sonography. Experience with radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS). Background in related imaging modalities such as X-Ray, mammography, or nuclear medicine. Prior experience working in a hospital or multi-disciplinary clinical environment. Advanced training in patient care techniques and safety protocols. Responsibilities Operate ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients’ internal organs and tissues. Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and safety. Review images for quality and completeness, making adjustments as necessary to obtain optimal diagnostic information. Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare providers to discuss findings and assist in diagnostic interpretation. Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures in compliance with healthcare regulations. Ensure ultrasound equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and sanitized according to safety protocols. Stay current with advances in ultrasound technology and best practices through ongoing education and training. Skills The required skills in ultrasound and medical imaging are applied daily to capture precise diagnostic images that aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. Radiology and radiographic knowledge enable the technician to understand imaging principles and collaborate effectively with radiologists. Skills in patient care ensure that individuals undergoing procedures feel comfortable and informed, which is essential for obtaining quality images. Familiarity with X-Ray, mammography, and nuclear medicine enhances the technician’s versatility and ability to support various diagnostic needs.
