Position Summary Performs routine ultrasound examinations as prescribed by a physician. Responsibilities Performs routine ultrasound examinations as prescribed by a physician. Reviews and evaluates requisitions for ultrasound imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations. Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy. Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develops plan for adjusting to patients' specific needs. Follows QC/Data Integrity Workflow process. Practices High Reliability Communication techniques. Responds to the uniqueness and clinical condition of the patient. Creates a supportive environment for the patient and the family. Promotes a positive work environment in compliance with ETU. Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions. Assists senior technologists in organizing and maintaining daily operations of section. Provides instruction on pediatric ultrasound procedures and techniques to residents, fellows, and students as requested. Participates in departmental and hospital meetings. Minimum Qualifications Education Associates Degree, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Licensure/Certification Eligible for certification by the ARDMS. Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARDMS certification and registration within one year of hire date. BLS certification The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
