Job Title: Cable Assembly Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on building cable assemblies from scratch in a fast-paced cable cell environment that uses a batching method for maximum efficiency. Work Environment
The facility is modern, clean, comfortable, and well lit, providing a professional yet relaxed atmosphere. Work takes place in a regulated environment focused on building medical instruments, but it is not a clean room. The current schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the expectation of occasional overtime, including up to two Saturdays per month or potential adjustments if a Monday-Thursday model is adopted. The environment is temperature controlled, and the primary personal protective equipment is an ESD smock. Team members may wear headphones while working, but phone usage is strictly limited during work time. The dress code allows jeans and a collared shirt, contributing to a casual and comfortable setting. The facility includes renovated break rooms with comfortable seating and amenities such as shuffleboard, dart boards, foosball tables, coffee, snacks, and canteen vending, supporting both productivity and relaxation throughout the workday

Job Description

Responsibilities
- Build cable assemblies from scratch using established processes and work instructions.
- Rotate between cable cell stations, including wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering, as production needs require.
- Perform work using the batching method, completing large batches of wires at one station and passing them to the next station to maintain efficient workflow.
- Operate hand tools and small machines at each station, including wire cutters, strippers, crimpers, and torque wrenches, in a safe and accurate manner.
- Conduct soldering operations, following all quality and safety standards.
- Support mechanical assembly tasks, such as fastening components and assembling hardware, according to specifications.
- Perform electronic assembly tasks, including routing, bundling, and securing wires and cables to meet design requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, travelers, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure correct assembly and documentation.
- Complete all required documentation accurately, including production records, travelers, and any quality-related forms.
- Use computers to access build plans, work instructions, and documentation, and to record production or quality data.
- Follow regulated work practices appropriate for medical instrument manufacturing, maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization at the workstation.
- Inspect work for quality and accuracy, demonstrating strong attention to detail and adherence to IPC and internal standards.
- Participate in a structured training program, using provided training materials and binders, and apply feedback from trainers and leadership in real time.
- Collaborate with team members in the cable cell, communicate status of batches, and support smooth handoffs between stations.
- Adhere to all safety, ESD, and facility policies, including appropriate use of PPE and limitations on personal device use.
- Be available to work occasional overtime as needed, including up to two Saturdays per month or adjusted schedules if the shift moves to a Monday-Thursday model.
- Experience with cable or wire assembly, including activities such as wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and harness assembly.
- Hands-on soldering experience or a strong interest in learning soldering in a production environment.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints, travelers, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Proficiency using hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, and torque wrenches in a precise and controlled manner.
- Comfort working with both mechanical and electronic assemblies in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly, proper documentation, and consistent quality.
- Ability to use computers to access build plans, documentation, and training materials.
- Willingness to rotate between multiple workstations and tasks throughout the day.
- Reliability and flexibility to support occasional overtime, including potential Saturday work as needed.
- Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced production setting while maintaining high quality standards.
- Prior experience with medical device or medical assembly environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with cable harness assembly, cable crimping, and wire stripping in a production setting.
- Experience working from detailed documentation, travelers, and build plans over extended production timelines.
- Comfort working under regulated processes associated with medical instrument manufacturing.
- Openness to comprehensive training programs, including working from structured training binders and receiving real-time feedback from leadership.
- Ability to work independently at a station while contributing to a collaborative cable cell team.
- Comfort working in a facility where headphones are allowed but personal phone use is restricted during work time.
