Assistant Controller

Job Title: Assistant Controller Reports to: Controller Locations: US – Boston, MA; Houston, TX As Assistant Controller at Conga, you will play a key leadership role within the accounting organization, supporting the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting. You’ll oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, help manage the close process, and ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls. This is a highly collaborative and hands‑on role where you’ll partner closely with Finance, FP&A, Billing, Accounts Receivable, and external auditors. You’ll also help drive process improvements and scalability as the business continues to grow. Key responsibilities include managing month‑end and quarter‑end close processes, supporting audit readiness, and maintaining strong internal controls. The role also involves identifying process improvements to shorten close cycles and enhance reporting quality. Related experience: 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or industry experience within a SaaS or technology company. Deep knowledge of US GAAP and experience managing month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes. Leadership & team development: Experience leading and mentoring accounting teams, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement. Comfortable rolling up sleeves while developing others. Technical accounting expertise: Strong understanding of key accounting areas, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), accruals, and financial reporting. Able to research and apply accounting guidance as needed. Operational excellence: Track record of improving accounting processes and implementing scalable solutions. Understand how to operate in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment while maintaining strong controls and accuracy. Initiative: Proactive, take ownership of outcomes. Identify opportunities, propose solutions, and follow through to execution without waiting for direction. Cross‑functional partnership: Collaborate effectively with teams across Finance, Billing, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, and Legal to ensure alignment and accurate financial outcomes. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred. Additional Qualifications Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite or similar Familiarity with financial consolidation and reporting tools Experience working closely with FP&A systems (Adaptive, Anaplan, etc.) is a plus Audit & Compliance Leadership Experience supporting or leading annual audits and working with external auditors Strong understanding of internal controls and compliance best practices Close Process Expertise Proven ability to manage and improve month‑end and quarter‑end close cycles Experience driving efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting Track record of implementing process improvements that enhance scalability and reduce manual effort Experience working in a high‑growth environment with evolving processes Cross‑Functional Collaboration Strong communication skills; ability to explain accounting concepts clearly Ability to partner with Billing, AR, FP&A, and operational teams Quality Oriented High standard for accuracy and integrity; build processes to ensure reliable outputs and quickly resolve discrepancies Solution‑oriented mindset; work across teams to solve problems and support business needs in a dynamic environment We provide competitive compensation and benefits, including base salary, variable incentive pay, flexible work options, and a full range of benefits such as medical and dental insurance. U.S. base salary range: $250,520 – $425,880 USD.
