Diesel Mechanic Technician

Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Marietta, Georgia. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred All other certifications required by location Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A preferred Must have at least 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment Knowledge of and ability to apply computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire Pass Ryder drug test Pass DOT physical Pass Ryder road test Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Responsibilities Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties Performs standard and preventive maintenance Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision Replaces defective components as instructed Works unsupervised on most tasks Performs facility maintenance duties Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels Demonstrates ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents Other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support Completes SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220) Completes 2 of the OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix within 365 days Ryder is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and drug‑free workplace.
