Branch Manager -Trolley Square Stop & Shop (East Haven, CT)

Overview Manages all activities of a branch. Responsible for the overall success of the branch operating model, including customer and employee experience, digital engagement, transactions/operations, servicing, and sales. Has personal production responsibility. Primary Responsibilities Direct sales and business development to ensure overall profitability and meet operational objectives. Lead the team through coaching, performance management, and prioritization. Build and develop branch staff and identify Retail and Business Banking customer needs through the M&T sales processes. Assist customers with short‑ and long‑term solutions and proactively prospect and grow Business Banking relationships. Build the bank’s presence in the community, conduct interviews, and select employees based on the staffing model. Model and coach customer service and needs‑determination behaviors and maintain accountability for executing the Retail strategy. Ensure operational requirements, including consumer and business banking guidelines, are maintained. Maintain compliance with operational, security, and control policies to prevent fraud and protect customer assets. Take ownership of complex account servicing and error resolution issues, including escalations from other Bankers, and provide coaching to reduce future problem resolution. Engage with all team members and business partners and independently process Business Banking loan requests up to $100,000. Bundle products and services appropriately and adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls. Promote an environment of belonging that reflects the M&T Bank brand and maintain internal control standards, including audit implementation and regulator issues. Complete other related duties as assigned and exercise managerial authority concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations. Scope of Responsibilities This position reports to a Retail Regional Manager and leads the branch team to achieve annual sales and profitability goals. Branch Managers must establish and maintain federal registration requirements outlined in the SAFE Act, stay current on operational, product, and system changes, and demonstrate strong risk‑management decisions. Insurance licensing and Business Banking Specialist requirements are as specified. Branch Managers spend a majority of time growing the business through proactive sales and outside calling, while also servicing existing customers and resolving customer, service, and employee issues promptly. Education and Experience Required Bachelor’s degree, OR four (4) years of relevant experience. Minimum three years of sales experience. Minimum two years of managerial experience or proven leadership abilities. Life/Accident and Health Insurance licensing required within 18 months of entry (training provided within 6 months). M&T Business Banking Specialist certification within 18 months of hire. Strong knowledge of Business Banking products, services, and client relationship management. Certified Precision Leadership, Bilingual/Spanish skills preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Internet, and email. Education and Experience Preferred Demonstrated sales/business development success and understanding of profitability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to coach exceptional customer service and function professionally with all levels of personnel. Strong financial services product knowledge. Strong organization, time‑management, and prioritization skills. Compensation Annual salary range: $68,400.00 – $114,000.00 (USD). Compensation will reflect the candidate’s combination of experience, knowledge, skills, and performance level.
