NSB Omega is searching a Mechanical Engineer - Static Equipment for our Client in Quintana, TX. Position Summary We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 3-10 years of experience to support the reliability, mechanical integrity, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of static equipment assets. This role will focus on pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping systems, air-cooled heat exchangers, and related fixed equipment, with additional responsibility for supporting pipe stress, piping vibration, and fitness-for-service evaluations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically curious, safety-focused, and comfortable working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, Reliability, Projects, and external vendors to solve equipment issues and improve asset performance.

Primary Responsibilities - Provide day-to-day engineering support for static equipment, including pressure vessels, tanks, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, air-cooled heat exchangers, piping systems, and associated components.- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action development for equipment damage, leaks, corrosion, vibration concerns, fatigue issues, thermal movement concerns, and mechanical integrity findings.- Review inspection reports, equipment condition data, repair recommendations, and non-destructive examination results to support technically sound repair, replacement, monitoring, or continued-service decisions.- Assist with pipe stress, thermal growth, support adequacy, flexibility, and vibration evaluations, including coordination with specialists or external engineering firms when detailed analysis is required.- Support air-cooled heat exchanger reliability, including tube condition assessments, plugging/replacement decisions, corrosion monitoring, inspection scope development, fan deck and header issues, and mechanical repair planning.- Develop and review engineering scopes, repair plans, technical recommendations, Management of Change documentation, and project intake information for static equipment and piping-related work.- Participate in field walkdowns, equipment inspections, pre-startup safety reviews, turnaround planning, discovery work evaluation, and maintenance execution support.- Apply applicable codes, standards, and recommended practices, including ASME, API, TEMA, and site mechanical integrity procedures, to support safe and reliable equipment operation.- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, Reliability, Process Engineering, Projects, contractors, and vendors to resolve equipment issues and drive practical, risk-informed solutions.- Support development and improvement of mechanical integrity programs, inspection strategies, equipment records, repair deferral processes, and asset reliability initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience supporting LNG, cryogenic, petrochemical, or other process plant equipment.- Exposure to pipe stress analysis, vibration troubleshooting, flexibility analysis, or use of piping analysis tools such as CAESAR II.- Experience with air-cooled heat exchanger inspection, tube failure analysis, plugging plans, IRIS/eddy current inspection methods, header repairs, or fan-related reliability issues.- Knowledge of damage mechanisms, corrosion under insulation, risk-based inspection, fitness-for-service, remaining life assessments, and mechanical repair planning.- Familiarity with engineering software or systems such as COMPRESS, PV Elite, HTRI, SAP, APM/Meridium, or similar tools.- Engineer-in-Training certification, Professional Engineer license, API certification, or interest in pursuing relevant technical certifications.

Work Environment This position will include a combination of office-based engineering work and field support in an operating facility. The engineer may support routine operations, planned outages, turnarounds, emergent equipment issues, field walkdowns, inspections, and vendor or contractor coordination. Occasional extended hours may be required during turnarounds, startup activities, or high-priority equipment events.

Qualifications Required - 3-10 years of mechanical engineering experience in an industrial, petrochemical, refining, LNG, chemical, power, or similar operating environment. - Working knowledge of static equipment, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, air-cooled heat exchangers, tanks, piping systems, and mechanical integrity fundamentals. - Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, API 510, API 570, API 579, API 653, API 660, API 661, and TEMA. - Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, inspection reports, isometrics, vendor data books, specifications, and repair documentation. - Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate technical risks, communicate recommendations clearly, and support timely field decisions. - Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across engineering, operations, maintenance, inspection, and contractor teams. - Commitment to safe work practices, mechanical integrity, regulatory compliance, and reliable plant operation.Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
