Staff Nurse

Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevents illness and injury, and alleviates suffering through diagnosis and treatment of human responses and advocacy in care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. Job Responsibilities Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients. Educate patients and families in health promotion and disease management. Administer medications safely according to United Health Services policy. Ensure productivity and effective resource utilization including staffing, time management, supplies, and services. Comply with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements. Participate in Nursing Shared Governance Model and improvement initiatives. Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education requirements. Integrate nursing research and current evidence into practice. Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Experience Nursing (RN) experience of six (6) months - three (3) years. Management experience of zero (0) - three (3) years. Five plus (5) years of direct experience. Collaboration and communication skills. Judgement and critical thinking. Organizational understanding. Planning, organizing, and time management. Problem solving and quality assurance. Reliability and safety/risk management. Preferred Skills & Experience Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting. Schedule Notes BLS & NRP certifications required. The shift is 7pm to 7am, 36 hours/week. Staff work every other weekend and holiday. This is a postpartum unit with routine couplet care, parent education, and emergency intervention for postpartum complications. Support is also provided to sister units of L&D and NICU.
