About the Position – Clinical Intern

Under clinical supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the Clinical Intern conducts mental health assessments, provides direct mental health services to members, and participates in consultations with clinical personnel in support of the mental health needs of members in the clinical reentry setting.

Your Impact Will Include:

• Provides individual and group counseling to address clinical needs and support successful reentry.
• Conducts comprehensive and informal mental health assessments to evaluate needs and progress.
• Collaborates with member support services staff to address members' mental health needs.
• Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to ethical standards, laws, and behavioral health regulations.
• Completes weekly clinical supervision in accordance with internship agreements.
• Maintains accurate, organized, and up-to-date documentation and data collection systems.
• Submits records, reports, and assignments promptly and efficiently.
• Participates in professional development, applies research-informed practices, and adapts to new approaches while supporting New Freedom's policies and procedures.
• Performing additional duties as assigned to support our mission.

Where You'll Work

• Primarily onsite at our facility.
• Using standard office equipment, plus plenty of face-to-face interaction.
• Some days will require long periods of sitting, standing, or walking.

Education

High School or better.

Bachelors or better in Social Work preferred.

Experience

Enrollment in a master's degree program in Social Work. Experience – Social Service environment. Knowledge of treatment modalities for substance abuse, mental health, and other co-occurring disorders. Experience in working with substance abuse in a residential and/or intensive outpatient milieu Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of HIPAA PII security requirements Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and critical thinking and problem-solving skills required Effectively demonstrates versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Effectively collaborates and works within a team, while also effectively demonstrating the ability to take initiative and work well individually Current Certification CPR/BLS/CPI.
