Job Description

The Accounting Assistant supports the accounting team by accurately entering invoices, billing, payment, and reconciliation data, reviewing financial reports and spreadsheets for completeness, and helping with basic reporting and trend analysis in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

  • Enter invoices, billing, payment, and reconciliation data into accounting systems with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Review reports, spreadsheets, and financial documents to ensure completeness and correctness.

  • Identify discrepancies, duplicate records, and missing information in accounting data and document follow-up actions.

  • Recognize trends and issues in financial data that require further investigation or escalation.

  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets to support accounts payable and general accounting activities.

  • Assist with basic reporting and trend analysis to support the accounting and finance team.

  • Navigate and work within multiple applications and systems to complete daily accounting tasks.

  • Support accounting and finance operations in a high-volume environment, prioritizing work effectively.

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and related transactions.

  • Follow established procedures and compliance guidelines, particularly those relevant to healthcare regulatory environments.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with accounts payable and AR/AP processes.

  • Prior accounting and finance support experience in a business setting.

  • Ability to review reports and spreadsheets and accurately identify discrepancies and data issues.

  • Experience documenting follow-up actions related to identified discrepancies or missing information.

  • Comfort working in high-volume accounting environments with multiple concurrent tasks.

  • Proficiency with Excel for preparing and maintaining spreadsheets.

  • Comfortable learning new systems and navigating multiple applications.

  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory environments and related compliance considerations.

Qualifications

  • Healthcare industry experience is preferred but not required.

  • Interest in supporting work that directly impacts patient and member outcomes.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial data.

  • Ability to recognize trends in data and communicate findings to the team.

  • Willingness to collaborate and learn from structured training and ongoing guidance.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite in Bloomington in a professional. The position operates in a high-volume accounting environment that uses multiple applications and systems to manage accounts payable and related financial processes. New hires receive a structured week of training with a dedicated trainer providing formal, hands-on guidance throughout the first week to ensure comfort with systems, procedures, and expectations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
