Billing Specialist

Job Title: Billing Specialist Date Prepared: February 2021 Billing Specialist Job Summary Processes insurance; gathers charge information; completes billing process; files insurance claims; performs collection and follow up work. Essential Job Functions Generates and submits third party insurance claims and performs follow-up on previously submitted claims. Analyzes outstanding insurance balances; calls insurance companies to inquire on payment needs. Analyzes patient denials for possible re-submission and reports to Revenue Cycle Manage denial trends. Follow up on claims being processed. Post payments in accordance with EOB’s received from insurance carriers. Assists providers with coding procedures to ensure correct billing. Researches all information needed to complete billing process including getting information from providers. Offer training and guidance to fellow employees as directed. Sliding Fee Discount monitoring and upkeep. Participates with other staff to follow up on accounts until no balance or turned over for collection. Assists with patient calls regarding billing questions. Assists with error resolution. Attends meetings as required. Follows all CHS policies, procedures, regulatory and legal requirements.
