Medical Records Scanning/Patient Portal Representative

Overview Position: EHR Specialist II Schedule: Full Time Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00 / Hourly Shift: Day shift Hours: 7:30 - 4 Responsibilities File, retrieve, prep, scan and index medical records accurately and in a timely manner into the OnBase electronic document management system to support patient care and legal/audit processes. With attention to detail, examine pages, verify patient identification and bar codes on each page, appropriately batch documents, and ensure accurate scanning and indexing. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Associate or bachelor degree in an AHIMA approved program in Health Information Technology preferred. Experience: One year general office experience, preferably in a medical record department or clinical setting. Licensure and/or Certification: RHIT preferred. Knowledge & Skills Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and disease processes. Strong computer skills to include MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook); prior 3M Encoder and Meditech experience preferred. Extensive use of office equipment including fax, copy machines, scanners. Ability to work with detailed systems, computer applications and intradepartmental units. Knowledge of JCAHO requirements and federal/state guidelines applicable to health record completeness and patient privacy. Knowledge of health information systems and data management; health record content and sequence. Strong analytical and communication skills; detail oriented. Ability to use judgment in carrying out all phases of the work. Ability to accept constructive analysis based on feedback from auditors and quality improvement initiatives. Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to all phases of the work. Ability to be courteous, tactful, and cooperative; ability to process and provide accurate paperwork and meet deadlines. Ability to manage multiple projects and large amounts of data; ability to work independently or as a team.
