Hours: 1st Shift, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm | No Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time, day shift in Ashe Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine (AOSM). 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant is the main link between the patients and the provider. The Medical Assistant provides care and related services to patients in the clinic.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Successful completion of Medical Assisting program, or the equivalent in training preferred.

Regulatory Requirements:

• Medical Assistant Certification, highly preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• Must be certified through AAMA or CCMA 

  Experience:

• One or more years of medical office experience, required.
• Orthopedic and/or Sports Medicine office experience, highly desired.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Accurately obtain and record vital signs and pertinent observations of patient visit. 
2. Prepare patients and be readily available to assist provider.
3. Follow physician orders to perform and/or assist casting, sterile procedures diagnostic procedures and other procedures within the scope of practice.
4. Collect and process specimens. 
5. Facilitate patient flow.                          
6. Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas. 
7. Communicate with patient by telephone and confer with provider. 
8. Educate patients who have special needs.
9. Maintains Laboratory records and patient results.
10. Monthly checks of medications for expiration dates. 
11. Demonstrates good verbal and written communication and telephone skills. 
12. Attends staff, educational, safety, and training meetings. 
13. Abide by policies and procedures of AMH.
14. Assist Physician as needed with splinting, setting fractures, fluid draws, applying braces to in-patients.
15. All out going referrals.
16. All surgery pre-certs and help with other pre-certs.
17. Fill in checking patient in and out.
18. Dropping claims as needed.
19. Answering phone.
20. Pulling reports for patients off system.
21. Apply all braces.
22. Assist with applying cast and splints.
23. Ordering medical supplies for office.
24. Managing inventory for DJO.
25. Referring or ordering correct X-Ray are performed before office visit.
26. Obtaining ER or out-patient visit notes.
27. Obtaining medical records.
28. Assist patients with transfers to and from building, car, table, chair, imaging, etc.
29. Prepare instruments to be cleaned and sterilized.
30. Assist with training other office personnel.
31. Assist Physician with using PACS computer.
32. Assist doing all front work when needed.
33. Other duties as assigned.

Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
