Senior Software Engineer, Atlas Distributed Systems Rubrik Atlas is the core data path for all Rubrik products, whether in the data center, at the edge, or in the cloud. It is a distributed, scale‑out, fault‑tolerant, performant, deduplicated user‑space filesystem that uniquely combines block device (ext4/NFS/SMB) and S3 backend storage interfaces. Since inception this team has attracted some of our strongest technical talent with a very high bar for quality and velocity. We are looking for motivated engineers who can complement this rock‑star team. About Role Rubrik is expanding at a rapid pace in all directions, from supporting various applications (such as Kubernetes, Oracle, EC2, and RDS protection) to hardware storage platforms (such as SSD, HDD, S3, Azure Blob, and EBS), to revolutionizing cloud protection (including SaaS protection, data security, and immutability). At the heart of this transformation is our Atlas platform. We need an experienced distributed systems engineer to guide us through the next stage of the evolution of our data platform. As an engineer on the team, you’ll design, develop, and deliver cutting‑edge solutions for the tectonic shifts mentioned above. You will be responsible for outlining the architectural principles we should build toward, prototyping changes, and working with the team to realize the vision in a production‑quality system. Your technical direction will also impact multiple teams across Rubrik, as we will need to guide them on how to best build on top of Atlas. There will be a wide range of features to work on, including cloud‑storage‑backed file systems with effective cost analysis, building data formats optimized for read and write performance for all workloads, deduplication and compression, reliability, resiliency, infinite scalability, performance tooling using eBPF, asynchronous programming, various read‑ahead techniques, snapshotting, data integrity, data security, and data immutability in the cloud. Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent 5+ years of experience in Distributed File System Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development Experience in building systems at scale and back‑end development Hands on coding skills in C++ Experience leading projects with 2–3 engineers Preferred Qualifications Experience with storage solutions or data protection is a huge plus Experience with nuances of public cloud features and costs (compute, storage, networking, data services) on AWS, Azure, GCP US Pay Range $188,500 — $282,700 USD Equal Opportunity Employer Rubrik is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
