Overview Of Role The Electrical Controls Technician in the Maintenance Department maintains plant electrical/mechanical systems and equipment safely and reliably. The role provides customer service and support to manufacturing teams via preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade of plant processing and packaging equipment. What You’ll Do Perform repairs and troubleshoot high‑speed equipment and plant utility systems; make machine adjustments to case packers, palletizers, sleevers, labelers and other equipment for proper operation. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operation. Troubleshoot and repair/replace variable frequency drives, vision systems, barcode scanners, video‑jet ink printers, and computer control systems. Install components such as seals, bushings, couplings, bearings, O‑rings, gaskets, adhesives, belts, chains, rollers, sprockets, gears, sheaves, and cylinders. Wire and repair/replace electric motors; repair basic wiring, install or replace fuses, troubleshoot motor overload protection and contactors. Use electrical tools such as a multimeter and Megger. Maintain and troubleshoot AC drive systems and PLCs; read schematics and wiring diagrams and use National Electric Code guidelines. Perform emergency repairs with welding and fabricating brackets. Access and interpret PLC logic via laptop or desktop and properly maintain PLC. Maintain hand tools and equipment: drills, wrenches, micrometers, calipers, torches, welders, lathe, mill, multimeter, grinders, bandsaw, etc. Follow plant and department procedures, GMPs, and plant safety rules; keep work areas clean following 5S protocol. Follow maintenance safety procedures, including LOTO. Shift & Pay 12‑hour night shift, 6 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. Days rotate on a 2‑2‑3 schedule. Base pay: $24.65 – $49.25 per hour. Pay may vary by specific location. Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience as an electrician, controls technician, or in an industrial role. Electrical technical degree or high school diploma/GED with 2+ years of equivalent experience in instrumentation or related field. Ability to access and interpret PLC logic and wiring schematics. Experience with Allen Bradley, Rockwell, RSLogix, VFDs and PLCs. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree or higher in an electrical technical field. Experience with instrumentation calibrations and critical preventive maintenance. Experience with pressure, flow, temperature, humidity, level, or weight instruments using 4‑20 mA, 0‑10 V control, calibration procedures, and setup/verification with other equipment. Ability to repair and rebuild centrifugal or positive‑displacement pumps, capper chucks and filler valves. Ability to work with plant engineering team to develop more robust systems into asset care programs.
