Who We're Looking For We are seeking an experienced and technically driven Electrical Engineer III – Spacecraft Programs (Electric Power Subsystem) to lead Electric Power Subsystem (EPS) development for next-generation Ranger spacecraft. In this role, you will drive spacecraft power architecture, subsystem requirements, power analysis, interface definition, hardware development, and integration activities across complex spacecraft development programs. You will work closely with avionics, propulsion, thermal, RF communications, guidance, navigation and control (GNC), payload, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to develop scalable, highly reliable spacecraft power systems supporting long-duration, high-mobility missions. This position is ideal for an engineer who combines deep spacecraft power systems expertise with strong systems thinking and enjoys leading multidisciplinary engineering efforts from concept through flight. You’ll Make an Impact Lead Electric Power Subsystem (EPS) development across Ranger spacecraft programs from architecture definition through integration, qualification, and flight readiness Derive EPS subsystem requirements from spacecraft- and mission-level requirements while maintaining complete requirements traceability throughout development Author and maintain EPS Interface Control Documents (ICDs) while coordinating electrical and operational interfaces across spacecraft subsystems Perform spacecraft power generation, energy storage, and power distribution sizing analyses based on mission objectives, operational scenarios, and vehicle constraints Develop, maintain, and validate spacecraft power models throughout the full spacecraft development lifecycle Define and manage spacecraft power distribution architectures supporting avionics, propulsion, payloads, RF communications, and vehicle-level operations Resolve complex subsystem integration challenges involving power allocation, electrical compatibility, redundancy, fault management, and operational constraints Perform make-versus-buy trade studies supporting EPS hardware architecture, component selection, and procurement strategies Coordinate EPS hardware vendors, suppliers, hardware deliveries, and subsystem integration schedules Develop Electric Power Subsystem integration and test (I&T) plans supporting subsystem verification, vehicle integration, environmental qualification, and flight readiness Support spacecraft assembly, integration, environmental testing, launch campaign activities, and mission readiness Participate in major engineering reviews including System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Flight Readiness Review (FRR) Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen spacecraft power system design methodologies, integration processes, and technical standards What It Takes Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline 7+ years of experience developing Electric Power Subsystems (EPS) for spacecraft or other complex aerospace platforms Experience deriving spacecraft power subsystem requirements and defining electrical interfaces across multidisciplinary systems Experience performing spacecraft power generation, energy storage, and power distribution sizing analyses based on mission requirements and operational constraints Experience developing and maintaining spacecraft power models throughout the product development lifecycle Strong understanding of spacecraft power distribution architectures and subsystem integration Experience working with high-power and high-current spacecraft electrical systems Experience managing hardware vendors, suppliers, and procurement activities supporting spacecraft development Strong systems‑level understanding of spacecraft subsystem interactions and electrical integration Excellent analytical, technical communication, problem‑solving, and cross‑functional leadership skills Comfortable operating within a fast‑paced spacecraft development environment with high ownership and execution expectations Nice-to-Have Experience Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline Experience working across multiple spacecraft subsystems including propulsion, avionics, communications, payloads, and GNC Experience developing high-voltage and mixed-voltage spacecraft Electric Power Subsystems Hands‑on experience supporting spacecraft Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T), including subsystem‑and vehicle-level environmental qualification Experience supporting spacecraft mission operations following launch and deployment Experience leading hardware design reviews including schematic and PCB layout reviews Experience supporting reliability engineering, radiation effects analysis, EMI/EMC compliance, and fault‑tolerant spacecraft design Experience using industry‑standard ECAD tools including Cadence, Altium Designer, or equivalent Knowledge of emerging spacecraft technologies for power generation, energy storage, and intelligent power distribution Experience supporting long‑duration spacecraft missions in GEO, cislunar, or deep‑space environments What You’ll Get Ownership – Lead the development of mission‑critical spacecraft Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
