Fire Protection Technician

Fire Protection Technician Responsible for providing customer service in the maintenance, repair, and testing of portable and semi‑portable fire extinguishers, lifesaving equipment, various fire detection and suppression systems, and related safety equipment. Essential Duties Perform service and repair, inspection, cleaning, reassembly, and testing of fire equipment. Rig and use safety equipment such as retractable lifelines, harnesses, and lanyards. Operate electronic safety and communication systems including portable gas monitors and hand‑held radios. Complete all required documentation and obtain customer signatures for invoicing. Reassemble and test equipment per manufacturer’s specifications, performing visual and functional checks. Conduct basic maintenance of assigned vehicle or trailer. Assist in stocking, staging, and loading equipment for jobs; maintain a clean work area. Work onshore and offshore with appropriate training and certifications. Skills and Experience Ability to obtain an Apprentice Permit for fire extinguishers as required. Ability to study for and pass ICC/NAFED Certification within six months. Working Environment Shop and yard environment. Exposure to wet, humid, outdoor weather conditions, vibration, high‑pressure chemicals, and shop traffic. Moderate noise level. Occasionally works in customer environments during later training. Educational Requirements High School diploma or GED preferred. Associate’s degree, technical or military training strongly preferred.
