Job Description
The Inventory Control Specialist oversees and optimizes inventory management to ensure the consistent availability of components and materials required for the production of high-tech equipment. This role supports critical missions by maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating with suppliers, and contributing to the delivery of advanced technology solutions for demanding customers in the defense and commercial sectors. Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all inventory items, ensuring data integrity across systems and documentation.
- Monitor inventory levels, reorder points, and usage trends to prevent stockouts, overstock situations, and production delays.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and full inventory counts, investigate discrepancies, and reconcile differences in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries of components and materials, and coordinate shipments as needed.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers to support favorable terms, consistent quality, and reliable lead times.
- Partner closely with the quality control team to verify that incoming materials meet established quality standards and specifications.
- Identify and escalate quality issues promptly, coordinating with internal teams and suppliers to resolve problems.
- Generate inventory reports on stock levels, usage, trends, and discrepancies, and share insights with management and cross-functional teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to inventory processes, movements, and transactions within ERP and other systems.
- Continuously evaluate and improve inventory control procedures, workflows, and systems to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support process improvement initiatives related to kitting, parts pulling, packing, and shipping and receiving operations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal security protocols for handling sensitive materials and equipment.
- Safeguard inventory against theft, damage, and unauthorized access by following and reinforcing security procedures.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, logistics, and other cross-functional teams to support smooth and efficient operations.
- Communicate inventory-related issues, risks, and recommendations clearly and confidently to management and stakeholders.
- Perform physical tasks such as moving, lifting, and rearranging heavy equipment or parts as needed to support inventory operations.
- Support shipping, receiving, packing, kitting, and parts pulling activities to keep production lines and projects on schedule.
- Use ERP systems and computer tools to track inventory transactions, update records, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Demonstrate professionalism, a positive attitude, and a go-getter mindset while working in a dynamic, ever-changing environment.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2+ years of recent experience in inventory control supporting a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems for inventory management and transaction tracking.
- Proven experience performing inventory control activities such as cycle counting, stock reconciliation, and inventory accuracy maintenance.
- Experience with shipping and receiving, packing, kitting, and parts pulling in a manufacturing or warehousing setting.
- Ability to move, lift, and rearrange heavy equipment or parts as part of daily responsibilities.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds safely and repeatedly as needed.
- Strong computer skills, including use of ERP systems and general computer applications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications (such as Outlook, Excel, Word, or similar tools).
- Professionalism and a consistently positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Go-getter mindset with a strong sense of ownership and initiative.
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to cross-functional teams and management.

- Forklift operation experience.
- Experience working in the early stages of a start-up company.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense–related work or customers.
- Familiarity with cycle counting best practices and continuous improvement in inventory processes.
- Exposure to high-tech or advanced hardware manufacturing environments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Ability to contribute ideas for process improvements and efficiency gains.

Work Environment
The role is based in a climate-controlled industrial manufacturing and warehousing facility in Austin, Texas. The environment combines advanced production operations with a driven, savvy culture that includes many individuals with prior Navy or military experience. The atmosphere is friendly, collaborative, and highly focused on mission success. The position operates on structured shifts, with a first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and second shift positions from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Team members must remain open to working overtime and/or every other Saturday as needed to support production and project demands. The work involves regular use of ERP systems, computers, and standard warehouse and manufacturing equipment, along with physical tasks such as lifting and moving heavy parts and equipment within a clean, organized, and safety-conscious facility.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
