Depending on experience Job Description: Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*
- Collaborate in the development of appropriate IEPs and IFSPs
- Recommend appropriate accommodations and modifications tailored to the specific needs of the student
- Serve on interdisciplinary teams evaluating students with suspected gross and/or fine motor issues as well as any physical mobility needs.
- Review student records, organize information, and determine appropriate assessment battery.
- Observe students; assess, evaluate, analyze, diagnose, and write reports.
- Assess students' physical motor skills and functioning and make recommendations.
- Participate in the decision-making process regarding special placement of students.
- Participate in Individual Education Program meetings with students and parents as needed.
- Evaluates effects of physical therapy treatments and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
- Physiological Knowledge, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Creating a Safe, Effective Environment, Motivating Others, Legal Compliance, Quality Focus, Bedside Manner, Clinical Skills, Pain Management, Persistence, Energy Level Maintains patient records by recording and updating evaluations, changes, progress, and treatments.
- Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; participating in research programs; evaluating new equipment, devices, and techniques.
- Maintain legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to federal, state, and local regulations, and professional standards.
- Update job knowledge by tracking trends in new techniques and approaches; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Interpersonal Skills
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction programs proven to be beneficial to pupils with special learning needs.
- Excellent written and oral skills.
- Ability to communicate well with students, parents and teachers.
- Five years of successful Physical Therapist experience preferred.
- PT degree from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapist education program and pass a state licensure exam.
