Job Title: Material Handler

Job Description

This role coordinates material handling activities, ensuring accurate shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment in a warehouse environment. You will handle both physical and administrative tasks, support inventory and manufacturing lines, and work within established standard operating procedures with a moderate degree of supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform all physical and administrative tasks associated with shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing materials, parts, supplies, and equipment.
• Unpack incoming goods and verify shipments against purchase orders or invoices to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain accurate records of received goods and reject unsatisfactory items in accordance with procedures.
• Lift and move heavy items safely and operate a forklift as needed to move materials.
• Prepare and maintain detailed records of merchandise shipped, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
• Post weights and shipping charges and prepare goods for final shipment according to shipping requirements.
• Examine, stock, and distribute materials to inventory locations and manufacturing lines to support production needs.
• Prepare kitting packages for assembly production when required, ensuring all components are correctly included.
• Perform shipping and receiving clerk activities, including loading, unloading, and staging materials.
• Use RF scanners and other inventory tools to perform order picking, packing, and inventory transactions.
• Conduct cycle counts and inventory counts to help maintain accurate stock records.
• Perform data entry related to inventory, shipping, and receiving activities using computer systems and standard software.
• Engage in box making, packaging, and weighing of materials to meet shipping and storage requirements.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO 9001 procedures while working within standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
• Work independently and manage tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related material handling, shipping, or receiving experience.
• Thorough understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO 9001 principles and applications.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.
• Proficiency using standard software packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience using SAP or other inventory management systems.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to safely lift and handle heavy items as part of daily duties.
• Experience with shipping and receiving functions, including loading, unloading, and documentation.
• Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and move continuously throughout the shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working as a shipping and receiving clerk, material handler, or in a similar warehouse role.
• Hands-on experience with cycle counts and inventory counts.
• Experience in order picking, packing, and packaging operations.
• Experience using RF scanners for inventory, picking, and shipping activities.
• Forklift operation experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Familiarity with weighing materials and posting shipping charges.
• Experience with box making and preparing goods for shipment.
• Comfort working with inventory data entry and maintaining accurate records.
• Ability to work effectively in a refrigerated or cold storage area as part of regular duties.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse environment where a portion of the facility is refrigerated. You will regularly move between areas dedicated to picking, packing, and box making, and must be comfortable working in cold temperatures. The role requires being constantly on the move and on your feet throughout the shift.

This is a Contract position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

The pay range for this position is $25.98 - $25.98/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Indianapolis,IN.
