Position Highlights Medical Intensive Care Unit Rotating schedule or straight Nights (6) weeks Days then (6) weeks Nights Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd Weekend BSN and CCRN preferred; prior ICU experience preferred Benefit eligible first day of month after start 401(k) with match Overview We are hiring compassionate registered nurses on the 42‑bed MICU unit with experience managing critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and life‑support interventions. The unit is led by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse, supported by an advanced practice nurse, and works with a multidisciplinary team including case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist. Acute Care Medicine The unit manages patients with a full range of clinical issues – from significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, and a multitude of other conditions and diseases. Due to patient acuity, advanced training is provided to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post‑treatment home‑care needs and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs. Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within guidelines of the standards of nursing care. BJC has determined this is a safety‑sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe practice.
