Responsibilities

Summary:

Provides shift to shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, service, and utilization of resources for daily operations. Maintains the environment of care. Provides care to patients in a competent, capable, caring and efficient manner. Care provided is appropriate to the age of the patients served. Role models organizational values. Provides real-time feedback to staff to improve performance. Leads/Participates in department process improvement to improve projects outcomes. Facilitates employee engagement activities including professional/shared governance participation

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

• BSN required.
• Member of professional practice organization pertinent to area of practice preferred

Experience:

• 1 year charge nurse experience preferred
• Professional experience that demonstrates ability to understand the clinical practice environment. 2 years clinical nursing experience preferred

• Effective interpersonal skills
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
• Ability to conceptualize the patient flow process and its impact at the unit and hospital level
• Ability to implement and sustain process changes to improve department and organizational outcomes

License / Certification:

• Current RN license in District of Columbia required
• Certification in specialty preferred
• Successful completion of unit specific certifications (BLS,ACLS)
