RN Post Partum Weekend position

The Postpartum Unit at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis is a 44‑bed unit with a Level 1 Newborn Nursery, serving a diverse patient population in one of the state’s largest birth centers. Join our dedicated team and make a meaningful impact every day. Core Responsibilities Provide care to obstetric patients and their families during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. Conduct comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identify outcomes based on needs assessment; establish the plan of care; supervise progress; and modify plan as needed. Maintain education and competencies to remain proficient in high‑quality patient care practice and skills. Incorporate evidence‑based nursing practice, considering current statutes, rules, and regulations when developing the plan of care. Establish realistic and measurable patient‑expected outcomes in collaboration with the patient and family, based on nursing diagnoses, patient capability, goals, available resources, and continuity of care plan. Identify age‑appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic, and attainable outcomes. Coordinate, collaborate, and delegate appropriately to ensure safe and effective care. Fulfill all organizational requirements. Other duties as assigned. Supplemental Roles Charge Nurse (only when acting in this role) – Demonstrate ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation; collaborate effectively with unit staff, leadership, and other disciplines. Preceptor (only when acting in this role) – Identify orientee’s learning needs, plan appropriate learning experiences, and validate clinical competence of the orientee. Required Qualifications Associate’s or Vocational degree. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Minimum two years of labor and delivery experience. Licensing and Certifications Licensed Registered Nurse – MN Board of Nursing required if working in MN; WI Department of Safety & Professional Services required if working in WI. Must meet at least one of the following: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross. Allina in‑house BLS training (within 30 days of hire). NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation – Multisource required for identified units within 4 months. ACLS required for identified units. RN‑C in related specialty preferred. Physical Demands Medium Work* – Lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally; up to 25 lbs. frequently (Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy). Qualifications by Tier Tier 1: Minimum six months of current RN experience in Abbott NW Postpartum unit. Tier 2: RN Postpartum experience required. Tier 3: Minimum one year acute care RN experience or new graduate RN with OB experience (e.g., internship, capstone, nursing assistant). Shift & Work Hours Full‑time (0.6 FTE) – 48 hours per two‑week pay period. 12‑hour night shifts. Every weekend – Friday and Saturday nights. Pay Range Pay Range: $42.92 to $71.47 per hour. The starting rate depends on experience, education, and union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend, and other differentials may be available.
