Position: Purser/Data Manager This role works aboard commercial/at-sea processing vessels in the Bering Sea, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Alaska, and Aleutian Islands. The Purser/Data Manager assists onboard managers with administrative duties, communicates vessel needs to the Seattle office, and provides medical assistance to crew members. Responsibilities include inspecting products, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Key Responsibilities: Serve as part of the onboard emergency response team. Administer onboard health programs, including medical assessments and treatment, inventory management, and documentation. Assist in safety management reporting and documentation. Maintain all required logs and paperwork, including crew rosters and official notices. Manage vessel quotas, track regulations, and coordinate offloads and dock activities. Act as an administrative liaison with HR and handle onboard complaints or investigations. Conduct daily monitoring of sanitation and quality logs. Ensure compliance with GMP, sanitation, and hygiene standards. Coordinate with quality assurance for sampling and documentation. Collect and report data related to quality and safety. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Marine Science, or related field preferred. 2+ years’ experience as a Purser or onboard observer preferred. Experience in medical treatment or patient care preferred. 1+ year of administrative experience. Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of factory trawler quality and safety programs is a plus. Proficiency in MS Office suite. Strong communication skills in English. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines. Ability to handle confidential information and troubleshoot issues effectively. Compensation & Benefits: Salary: $9,000 - $13,000 per month. Free room and board, health/dental benefits, 401K, crew share compensation. Contract extension options up to 90 days. Trip lengths vary between 10-16 days depending on fishing conditions.
