Summary Of Job

Demonstrates ability and knowledge to perform Blood Bank testing in order to provide the highest quality of testing available. Demonstrates ability and knowledge to independently perform and interpret clinical laboratory tests within established time frame with accuracy and precision. Is able to perform multiple tasks such as: Phlebotomy, Quality Performance activities, quality control procedures, ordering, computer functions, and other duties as assigned.

Provides assistance to Laboratory Supervisor for staff scheduling and technical supervision, and oversee Blood Bank section in absence of Laboratory Supervisor.

Demonstrates ability and knowledge to independently perform, interpret, and troubleshoot clinical laboratory tests, both automated and manual, within established time frames with accuracy and precision. Assists Laboratory Supervisor in instructing personnel on technical procedures and ensuring conformance with department standards.

Recruitment Requirements

Any one of the following certifications: BSMT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MLT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW).

B.S. with 3-5 years of Blood Bank experience above a general technician/technologist status.

A.S. 5-8 years experience in Blood Bank.

License And Regulatory Requirements

ASCP, SBB, or NCA
