(TS&D) Technician - Laboratory Testing

Technical Service & Development (TS&D) Technician – Laboratory Testing Location: Auburn, MI (Onsite) Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Pay Rate: $28/hour on W2 - $30/hour on W2 We are seeking a hands‑on Technical Service & Development (TS&D) Technician to support laboratory testing and product development activities for construction‑related materials, including sealants, adhesives, and coatings . This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with laboratory, quality, materials testing, or technical service experience who enjoy hands‑on work, following standard test methods, and working in a collaborative R&D environment. Key Responsibilities Perform laboratory testing on sealants, adhesives, coatings, and related materials. Prepare samples by mixing, dispensing, curing, and conditioning materials according to established procedures. Conduct physical property testing using ASTM standards (tensile strength, adhesion, durometer, specific gravity, and related methods). Accurately record and document test data using Excel and electronic lab notebook systems. Follow detailed SOPs and customer‑specific testing procedures. Handle laboratory chemicals and materials safely while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Package and ship product samples to customers and internal R&D teams. Maintain laboratory inventory and assist with ordering supplies. Support laboratory safety initiatives and comply with all safety requirements. Work closely with scientists, engineers, and technical teams to support customer requests, product evaluations, and innovation projects. Required Qualifications Associate degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science, or another science‑related field; OR Military Degree Equivalency (MDE) with 1+ year of relevant experience; OR Postsecondary education with at least 20 hours of science coursework plus relevant laboratory experience; OR High school diploma/GED with at least 3 years of relevant laboratory or materials testing experience. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications Experience performing ASTM standard testing. Hands‑on experience with physical property testing such as tensile strength, adhesion, durometer hardness, specific gravity, compression, or peel testing. Experience testing or working with sealants, adhesives, coatings, polymers, elastomers, rubber, plastics, composites, paints, or construction materials. Experience operating dispensing equipment, mixers, presses, or other basic laboratory equipment. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and electronic laboratory documentation systems. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures accurately. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toed shoes, and lab coat. Respirator use may be required based on business needs.
