Staff Accountant

A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support its accounting operations. This position will handle general ledger activity, reconciliations, cash receipts, billing support, and other accounting responsibilities across multiple entities.

The position offers the opportunity to grow into a Senior Accountant role over time.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly general ledger closing entries based on established checklists
• Complete monthly general ledger account reconciliations
• Perform bank reconciliations
• Apply cash receipts to customer invoices
• Provide backup support for customer receipts, account statements, and sales invoice entry in QuickBooks Desktop
• Support intercompany sales invoice adjustments at month-end
• Calculate estimated builders' revenue based on schedules and create invoices
• Complete monthly billing integration to the Dynamics Great Plains general ledger for installer purchase orders
• Perform monthly QuickBooks general ledger closing and reconciliations for a satellite company
• Support receiving inventory and entering paid bills in QuickBooks Desktop
• Add job codes and margins in Great Plains
• Provide backup support for IFTA fuel tax filings
• Assist with vendor compliance requests, including certificates of insurance and W-9 documentation
• Support annual physical inventory procedures, including ticket ordering, lot releases, cutoff research, and exception reporting
• Run inventory reports and work with the CFO to finalize results
• Prepare inventory obsolescence reports
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least five years of accounting experience
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
• Strong technical skills
• Experience with Dynamics Great Plains and QuickBooks Desktop preferred
• Understanding of general ledger accounting, month-end close, and account reconciliations
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Good judgment regarding when to resolve issues independently and when to ask questions
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• High level of integrity and ethics
• Stable employment history preferred

This position is onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A 7:30 a.m. start time may also be available. The company offers flexibility as long as the work is completed. The role will be fully onsite initially. After the successful completion of training and ramp-up, there may be an opportunity to work remotely one day per week.
